Manchester City duo Joao Cancelo and Phil Foden have made it into Alan Shearer’s Premier League ‘Team of the Week’.

Cancelo scored a fine solo effort for City’s opening goal in the 4-0 win against Southampton at the weekend, and Foden also got in on the act, providing the assist for Cancelo’s goal as well as putting away the team’s second of the afternoon.

Surprisingly, Erling Haaland has missed out on the eleven this week, with Shearer seemingly deeming that a single goal from the Norwegian made him not worthy of inclusion. His place went to Cristiano Ronaldo, after the 37-year-old scored his 700th senior goal in the 2-1 win over Everton on Sunday night.

In terms of the rest of the team, Shearer went with Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris in goal and a back three of Newcastle’s Kieran Trippier, Arsenal’s Takehiro Tomiyasu and Cancelo.

The midfield consisted of Chelsea’s Mason Mount, Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes, West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta and Foden, while Ronaldo is joined by Arsenal pair Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli in attack.
