BBC pundit Garth Crooks is expecting Manchester City striker Erling Haaland to score a “hatful of goals” in the Premier League after witnessing his performance against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The 22-year-old scored a hat-trick as the Premier League champions came from behind to win 4-2 and Crooks believes it won’t be the last time that the forward will go home with the match ball:

“Well, it might have been Haaland’s first hat-trick for City but, as sure as night follows day, it will not be his last. Anyone who can finish like that, barring injury, is in for a hatful of goals. It’s most revealing when fans of other teams start telling you how good they think a player is.”

“A Wolves fan told me he thought Haaland was a “beast” and a Manchester United supporter called him the “real deal” which, when roughly translated, means they think the lad is unplayable. Having watched him destroy a troublesome Crystal Palace, who for a moment thought they were in with a chance of winning the game, they might have a point.”

Haaland has been in outstanding form since arriving from Borussia Dortmund for £51m in the summer, with the Norwegian international having already hit the back of the net six times in just four league appearances.

Crooks was writing about Haaland in his “Team of Week” column, where he also named Bernardo Silva for his display at the weekend. Chelsea duo Edouard Mendy and Raheem Sterling, Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard, Manchester United pair Lisandro Martinez and Bruno Fernandes as well as four Liverpool players made up the rest of the eleven.
