Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte has suffered an adductor injury on international duty for Spain.
The 27-year-old was forced off at half-time during the 4-0 win over Georgia as Luis Enrique’s side bounced back from their defeat to Sweden, earlier this week.
After being on the bench for the opening day defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, Laporte has started in City’s back-to-back 5-0 wins over Norwich City and 10-man Arsenal.
Jose Gaya also had to withdraw from the resounding win with 15 minutes to play
There is no timeframe on his injury but a full diagnosis is expected on Monday.
Pep Guardiola‘s side face a trip to Leicester City next week before another away trip against Chelsea at the end of September.
Before then they welcome RB Leipzig in the Champions League, Southampton in the Premier League and Wycombe in the Carabao Cup to the Etihad Stadium.
Zack Steffen was also dealt bad news during the international break after not only missing out on the draw against El Salvador with back spasms but will now miss their final game of the break against Honduras on Thursday after he tested positive for Covid-19 on Sunday night.
