Barcelona are interested in signing Aymeric Laporte, Ilkay Gundogan and Gabriel Jesus this summer.
That is according to Spanish outlet Sport who claim the Catalan giants are planning to make a raid on Pep Guardiola‘s side, having already brought Sergio Aguero and Eric Garcia to the Camp Nou on free transfers upon the expiration of their contracts in Manchester.
It’s said relations between City and Barcelona weren’t good, but with new club president Joan Laporta in charge, who is close friends with Guardiola and Blues director of football Txiki Begiristain, there is hope that there can be business conducted.
With Ruben Dias and John Stones establishing a formidable partnership, Barcelona will reportedly attempt to sign Aymeric Laporte, but their interest in City players doesn’t stop there – Gundogan and Jesus have also been linked with a switch.
The article claims Barcelona would only be interested in Jesus if the deal was ‘irresistible’ but Guardiola’s former club probably need to remember that it’s City that have the bargaining power in any negotiations here, not them.
In addition, despite Gudogan playing a key role in City’s success this season, the report also claims Barcelona are eyeing a move the German after missing out on long-time target Georginio Wijnaldum, who now appears to be set to join Paris Saint-Germain.
It’s worth noting, though, that Barcelona aren’t in a strong financial position, which means the rumours should be treated with a high degree of scepticism.
