Carabao Cup third round draw: Man United face tricky fixture while Man City get League One tie

Both Manchester clubs will find out how they will start their domestic cup campaign as they enter the draw for the Carabao Cup.

Manchester City will be looking to make it five wins in a row in the competition after retaining the trophy once again by beating Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley in April.

Manchester United will meanwhile be in the hunt for their first EFL Cup since 2017, when Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s late winner broke Southampton’s hearts after they had fought back from 2-0 down.

Neither side were involved in the second round this week as European-qualifying Premier League sides do not enter until the third round.

Tonight’s draw will take place after the three third round games have come to a conclusion, and thankfully the absence of extra time means we won’t be up too late to discover who the two Manchester sides will face in the next round.
