Chelsea handed double injury boost ahead of Man City Champions League final

Manchester City’s Champions League final opponents Chelsea have been handed a double injury boost with the return to training of both Edouard Mendy and N’Golo Kante.

The two Premier League sides go head-to-head in Porto on Saturday, in the second all-English Champions League final in three years.

City are looking to cap what has been a remarkable season by securing a treble, while Thomas Tuchel is aiming to finish what has been a superb first few months at the club with the ultimate prize.

Tuchel has got the better of Pep Guardiola in recent meetings, beating City in both the FA Cup and Premier League, which should make for an intriguing counter.

The France World Cup winner was not risked at Villa Park, amid concerns he could be sidelined for the Champions League final.

Meanwhile, Mendy was substituted at half-time against Villa, having collided with the post while attempting to save Bertrand Traore’s opening goal.

Tuchel issued a positive update on Mendy’s availability on Monday and it seems likely he will be between the sticks to face City.
