Eintracht Frankfurt have not reached an agreement to sell Andre Silva to RB Leipzig, according to reports in the German media.

There had been claims that a £20m transfer was close to being finalised but, at this stage, it is believed that the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal remain in contention for the Portuguese international.

Silva has been on the Citizens’ radar for a number of months, after scoring 28 Bundesliga goals for Frankfurt last season, which was more than Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.

It has, though, been assumed that the Portuguese striker is quite a way down the list of priorities, with Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Inter Milan’s Romelu Lukaku said to be the two main candidates as the Premier League champions pursue a replacement for Sergio Aguero.

If City do miss out on their main targets, however, Silva could come back into the reckoning, although it remains to be seen if a move to Leipzig is still on the cards.
