Manchester City have offered Barcelona midfielder Ilaix Moriba a contract worth €6m a season (£99,000 a week) as they try and tempt him into moving to the Etihad, according to reports in the Spanish media.

Both the Citizens and Chelsea are said to have made approaches for the 18-year-old in recent days, while Manchester United also have a long-standing interest in the player.

Moriba has less than one year left on his contract at the Camp Nou and Barca could be forced into selling him this summer if he doesn’t put pen to paper on a new deal soon.

It was reported a couple of weeks ago that the Catalan club were not allowing the teenager to return to pre-season training with the first team, unless he agreed to sign on the dotted line.

City appear to be in pole position for Moriba’s signature at the moment, but the situation could well change before the transfer window closes next month.
