BBC pundit Garth Crooks has included five Manchester City players in his Premier League ‘Team of the Week’ following their 3-0 win over Wolves on Saturday.

Manuel Akanji had an excellent Premier League debut, and Crooks said the Swiss international “hardly put a foot wrong” at Molineux.

John Stones was also praised, with Crooks suggesting that the 27-year-old is the most in-form centre-back currently at the disposal of England manager Gareth Southgate.

Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland were the three other City players that were selected, after all being involved with goals or assists versus Wolves at the weekend.

In terms of the rest of the eleven picked by Crooks, Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale, William Saliba, Granit Xhaka and Gabriel Jesus were recognised following their comprehensive victory against Brentford yesterday afternoon.

Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha and Tottenham forward Son Heung-min took up the remaining two spots in Crooks’ team.
