Manchester City are “expected” to sell Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal, according to the Daily Mail journalist Jack Gaughan.

The reliable reporter claims a £35m transfer is currently being thrashed out and, barring any last-minute u-turns, the Ukrainian is likely to complete his move to the Emirates:

The news has not gone down well on Twitter. While not every supporter is necessarily a fan of Zinchenko’s, there are questions being raised about the depth of Pep Guardiola’s squad:

Gutted

Even with Cucurella, selling Zinna is still an L. We can’t go into the Season with no depth in LB. We need depth, not covers..

We keep creating depth issues this club doesn’t learn anything

Wont hold anything against Zinch..he has been patient, never sulked, gives his all whenever whenever he gets the chance. He deserves more game time, only regret is to never have seen him given the chance at midfield at City.Arsenal are getting a bargain in Zinchenko

We are now making a mistake here tbh…why we selling to our rivals…secondly i dont know of a player who steps up like zinchenko..this guy is a leader, her could be the future captain of the club..

It’s very likely that Zinchenko’s departure will facilitate City’s attempts to sign Marc Cucurella from Brighton.

The Seagulls are believed to be holding out for around £50m so the money raised from Zinchenko’s sale would be put towards the bid for the Spanish international.

Not everyone believes that Cucurella would be an upgrade on Zinchenko but, considering the club’s decent record in the transfer market, there is some hope that Guardiola and director of football Txiki Begiristain are making the right decision.
