Former Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho does not think Harry Kane will leave the London club this summer.
The England captain has reportedly been the subject of a £100m bid from Manchester City, while it is believed that both Chelsea and Manchester United are also interested in the striker. However, Mourinho claims Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is unlikely to sell the player:
“I would say that [Kane staying] probably is what is going to happen. I don’t see Mr Levy with the desire to sell him. Of course, Harry was very clear before the Euros but I don’t see Levy open for that, but only they know.”
Considering Mourinho knows Levy very well, you have to say he is very well positioned to make a judgement on Kane’s potential transfer. His words will undoubtedly disappoint some City supporters but it is not a surprising verdict.
Manager Pep Guardiola has also said in recent days that it is “impossible” to sign a striker at the prices the Citizens are currently being quoted. There are, however, possible cheaper alternatives that the club may consider.
Inter Milan’s Romelu Lukaku is likely to be available for a lower price than Kane, while there has even been talk of a move for Barcelona’s Antoine Griezmann.
