Man City ‘interested in Leeds starlet Wilfried Gnonto’ and more transfer rumours

Manchester City are reportedly one of three English sides interested in signing Leeds United ace Wilfried Gnonto in the summer transfer window.

As reported by Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, City, Arsenal and Chelsea are all keen on the 19-year-old, especially if the Yorkshire club are relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season. He joined the Whites from Swiss side FC Zurich last summer and has already made eight appearances for Italy.

Gnonto has registered four goals and three assists in 20 appearances for Leeds so far this season. He provided an assist on Sunday as Javi Gracia’s side secured an important 3-2 win over Wolves.

The 19-year-old is also attracting interest from other sides across Europe, but it is thought that his former side Inter Milan are not in the running for his signature.

Elsewhere, the Northern Echo have reported that City will compete with Newcastle for Leicester City and England midfielder James Maddison in the summer.

The Magpies attempted to sign the 26-year-old last summer, but a move failed to materialise. Maddison is reportedly expected to leave the King Power Stadium at the end of the season, regardless of whether the Foxes remain in the Premier League this campaign or not. He is out of contract in 2024.

It adds that Pep Guardiola is expected to push for Maddison in the summer, with Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan‘s futures at the Etihad still unclear. The Blues are still interested in Jude Bellingham, but the Borussia Dortmund midfielder is expected to have his pick of clubs if he decides to move.

Should City fail in an attempt to sign Bellingham, they could opt to focus on Maddison. It has also been suggested that the Blues’ officials held brief talks with Leicester about Maddison in the final hours of the January window.
