Man City receive knock out Lionel Messi blow and more transfer rumours

Manchester City might have received a knock out blow in their pursuit of Lionel Messi.

Messi’s contract is set to expire at Barcelona next month, which could have enabled Messi to join City on a free transfer this summer, but fresh details from The Mirror now claim the six-time Ballon d’Or winner has agreed a new deal with the Spanish giants.

The Argentinian made his feelings clear over where he felt his future lay last year with a sensational television interview, which placed Europe’s elite clubs on high alert and the Blues seeming like the most obvious destination with Pep Guardiola in charge.

However, it now seems Messi has had a dramatic change of heart, which could have been prompted by fellow countryman and close friend Sergio Aguero’s arrival and it’s now believed he’ll put pen to paper and sign a two-year contract extension at the Camp Nou.

In more transfer news, German outlet Bild report City are one of the clubs interested in Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman this summer and it’s said the Frenchman is one of the candidates who could leave for pastures new in the transfer window.

It’s claimed Coman’s representatives are exploring interest from multiple English clubs over the possibility of a move, with City, Manchester United and Chelsea all viewed as suitors for the 24-year-old.
