Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane will remain the focus for Manchester City in the upcoming windows as Pep Guardiola opts for the Englishman over Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland, according to reports.
The Spanish tactician ‘s efforts to sign the talisman proved fruitless as Daniel Levy failed to budge over his valuation of the England captain. Haaland would be a good alternative but City would face stiff competition across Europe if they were to tie him down.
With the transfer window slamming shut earlier this week, the rumour mill continues to churn out speculation surrounding incomings and outgoings at the Etihad Stadium with the Norwegian repeatedly uttered in the same breath as the Blues.
Real Madrid are one of the names among those vying for his signature but remain front-runners to sign Kylian Mbappe as his contract with the French giants set to expire next summer.
However, according to AS via Sport Witness, the Blues will continue their efforts to sign the 28-year-old over the Borussia Dortmund forward.
Mauricio Pochettino is said to be eyeing Haaland as a replacement for Mbappe should he leave for the Santiago Bernabeu in 2022.
As continue to report that the 21-year-old would be ‘easier to land’ should the 2018 World Cup winner extend at the Parc des Princes.
Elsewhere, City are said to be monitoring Colombian winger Emerson Rodriguez.
The versatile 21-year-old can play wide or in midfield and scored three goals in 22 appearances for the Millonarios-man.
His agent said: “As a winger I would recommend Emerson Rodriguez Rivaldo, a Colombian born in 2001, also owned by the Millonarios of Bogotà and already viewed by City and Chelsea.”
Meanwhile, Declan Rice is reportedly being monitored by Manchester City, according to 90min.
The West Ham midfielder scored his second England goal earlier this week after a goalkeeping howler from Peter Gulacsi.
There has been reports that the Hammers were going to offer the 22-year-old a bumper deal to retain his services at the London Stadium but Rice has a whole host of admirers in the form of City and Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
