Man City told why Jack Grealish will be a ‘hit’ following record-breaking transfer

Former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie Redknapp is backing Jack Grealish to be a “hit” at Manchester City following his recent £100million move from Aston Villa.

City, although they stormed their way to the Premier League title last term, felt they needed to add another injection of quality to their ranks and turned to England international Grealish, landing him in a British transfer record.

Since making the move to City, Grealish has made four appearances so far, scoring one goal and claiming one assist, meaning he has enjoyed a successful start to life at the Etihad Stadium.

After scoring his maiden City goal in the 5-0 win over Norwich City just over a week ago, Grealish produced another impressive performance in Saturday’s 5-0 rout against Arsenal, claiming an assist for Gabriel Jesus to score.

Although Grealish is still in the early days of his career at City, Redknapp has every confidence that he will become a big star in Pep Guardiola’s side.

“Yes he has [already made an impact],” Redknapp told Sky Sports. “It’ll be interesting to see how he keeps going now.

“They would have loved a striker in as well at Man City – Harry Kane. But I do think it’s more of a level playing field for City this year because they’ve got players who can play like him.

“They’ve got so many quality players in midfield that can play wide left, the likes of [Raheem] Sterling, Bernardo Silva, it is so interesting.

“He’s going to be a hit. I’m a massive fan of his. He’s a maverick, he’s a player you want to see.

“I would’ve loved to have played alongside a player like that the way he gets on the ball. He’s going to be a hit.”
