Manchester City have continued to monitor Denis Zakaria with the view of a possible transfer this summer.
That is according to Sky Sports who claim the Blues are great admirers of the Borussia Monchengladbach defensive midfielder, having enquired over his availability last summer when considering that Fernandinho was entering the autumn of his career.
Despite the 36-year-old Brazilian looking set to extend his stay for another season at the Etihad, a number of reports have claimed City are in the market for a long-term Fernandinho replacement and Zakaria certainly fits that mould.
After suffering a serious knee injury against Borussia Dortmund in 2020, Zakaria has made a full return to fitness, delivering some eye-catching performances, while striving towards reaching the heights that earned his reputation as an exciting prospect.

Zakaria’s contract at Gladbach is set to expire at the end of next season and it’s believed he could be available for around £35m.
While reports linking Danny Ings to City may have seemed unrealistic, Sky Sports have once again claimed that the Southampton forward is on Pep Guardiola’s shortlist this summer, alongside Erling Haaland, Romelu Lukaku and Harry Kane.
They claim it’s the latter that City have made contact with, though, reporting they’ve reached out to Kane’s representatives.
