Manchester City turned down the option of signing Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar last month, according to Marca.

The Madrid-based publication claims that PSG offered the Brazilian international to the Premier League champions but the Citizens “rejected” the “bombshell” opportunity due to the “possible effects” it could have on the dressing room.

It is believed that Neymar was made available for transfer because of his difficult relationship with Kylian Mbappe. The Frenchman’s decision to sign a new contract reportedly led his team to seek a potential suitor for his Brazilian teammate.

Chelsea were also mentioned as a possible destination for Neymar earlier this summer, and it looks as though plenty of other teams were given the option to recruit the 30-year-old in addition to City.

The decision to snub Neymar is not at all surprising considering the recent addition of Erling Haaland. Manager Pep Guardiola clearly has enough firepower at his disposal already.
