Manchester City have not stepped away from their attempts to sign Tottenham striker Harry Kane this summer, despite the 28-year-old returning to training with his current club, according to reports in England.
Kane is self-isolating following his return from holiday, in line with quarantine procedures, but Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo has confirmed that the player is able to train by himself ahead of a return to group training.
City are apparently not concerned by this later development, though, having always expected that negotiations for Kane would be long and drawn out.
The Manchester club’s determination to snap up Kane has been demonstrated by their decision to opt against getting involved in the battle for Lionel Messi, who has been a long-term target.
It is believed that City are totally committed to getting an agreement with Daniel Levy for Kane, although the Tottenham chairman is still holding out for a fee in the region of £150m.
With Chelsea closing in on a deal for Romelu Lukaku, and Manchester United not focused on signing a striker this summer, City know full well they are the only team who are pushing for Kane. For that reason, they are reportedly relaxed about talks being extended into the start of the new Premier League season.
