Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero is “set to accept” a contract offer from Barcelona, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The 32-year-old had been mentioned as a target for both Chelsea and Tottenham, as well as a number of top European clubs, including Juventus, but Romano says the forward is on the brink of a move to the Camp Nou:
Sergio Agüero is set to accept Barcelona contract bid until June 2023, salary lower than €10m – he hopes to complete last details and sign after the UCL final, it’s up to Barça board. ?? #FCB
Barça also confirmed to Depay they’re offering him a contract until 2023 or 2024. ?? https://t.co/BPVr4sDEQb

The news will be welcomed by City supporters who feared the club legend could line up against them at another Premier League team next campaign.
Barca always appeared to be Aguero’s preferred destination but there had been doubts over whether manager Ronald Koeman wanted him at the La Liga club.
It was claimed that the Dutchman was keener on signing Memphis Depay on a free transfer instead, but Romano believes both players could be offered contracts to make the switch to Spain. We shall see if both moves are confirmed in the coming weeks.
