Manchester City may turn their attentions toward Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix once again if a bid for Erling Haaland doesn’t come off this summer, according to The Athletic‘s Sam Lee.

The website’s City correspondent says that some sources are telling him that new recruit Julian Alvarez may be considered as the first choice number nine if Haaland favours a move to Real Madrid.

However, the fact that the Citizens have attempted to snap up Felix on three separate occasions would suggest that a bid for the Portuguese international can’t be ruled out either:

Last summer, City put their ‘Emerging Talent’ team to work. All scouts across the world were asked to find a striker.

Julian Alvarez is the one.

His arrival date is not certain and could be affected by Haaland/another, but he has a first team pathhttps://t.co/DLR51mpHu5

The striker is said to be keen on leaving Atletico, and he has been linked with the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle in recent months.

Felix’s availability could well tempt City into switching targets back towards the 22-year-old, although it seems any offer will depend on whether Haaland snubs a switch to the Etihad at the end of the season.
