Mason Mount has sent Manchester City a classy message after his Chelsea side won the Champions League final 1-0.
City were beaten in Portugal by a single goal, scored by Kai Havertz on the stroke of half-time, with Pep Guardiola ‘s side unable to secure their first-ever trophy in the famous European competition.
Mount played a huge part in the win for the west London club, providing a brilliant assist for Havertz that allowed Chelsea to then defend for the remainder of the clash.
Speaking to BT Sport after the game, the England international was quick to point out how impressive City have been in their spectacular season, that’s ended in heartbreak.

“City, what a team they are, you can see what they’ve done in the Premier League, they’ve very hard to play against,” Mount said.
“You don’t know what you’re going to get, it’s a tough, tough game.
“We get one goal on the break, kind of, and we’re defending the whole game, we’re giving it our lives, blocks on the line, everything, and we win, so I don’t know what to say.
“To be in this moment now, heading into the Euros, I know some of the boys from City will be meeting up and they’ve given it everything just like us.
“So, my celebrations after the game were cut short because I went straight over to them because I know what they’ve given and I went to them and say they’ve deserved to be here because they’ve got the best team in the world and definitely in the Premier League.
“It’s tough for them and hopefully next season, we’ll be pushing for the Premier League as well.”
